If you would like to further immerse yourself in the theme of the day, whether it be Bloodsport, Default, Medieval, or Middle Earth (more to come), you can replace the standard .txt files for the game type directions. For instance, the default directions for Team Battle are:
"Team Battle
------------------
==Like Destruction, but points are awarded by damage dealt and scaled based on your chassis.
Point of damage inflicted on opponent...+1 x chassis bonus
Destroying enemy weapon...+25
Destroying enemy 'Mech...+100 X chassis bonus
Point of self-inflicted damage...-1
Destroying own weapon...-5
Destroying own 'Mech...-500
Killing teammate...-100 X chassis bonus
Note that the score losses are generally only for self-inflicted damage. Being killed by another player only adds to their score, it doesn't hurt yours."==
Now, wouldn't you rather it say something like:
Operation War Game
------------------
(Classified Briefing, headquarters)
=="Listen up you grunts! I'm only gonna explain this once, still won't be enough for the lot of ya!
Remember, K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Soldier, don't any of you get any ideas!
You receive 1 point per damage inflicted X the Damage Ratio for your mech (see Mechlab).
For each weapon you destroy you get a flat bonus of 25 points.
For every "kill" you receive a kill bonus of 100 points X Damage Ratio (BA's & Infantry excepted).
If you can't hit the broad side of a barn and kill your teammate you are penalized 100 points X Damage Ratio.
Don't eject! Our unit never flees from a battle! Besides you suffer -500 points.
Are there any questions? What? Get out 'o here!"==
And, the directions changed to fit the theme! All you have to do is open the following .txt file that matches the current them and save it as tbat.txt in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\mektek.net\Mechwarrior Mercenaries - Mektek Mekpak\RESOURCE\MISSIONS
*Make sure you make a backup before replacing...
Ever get tired of the music that plays in the background while in the mechlab? Want to change it? How bout some Mech Factory sfx? Some celtic music for a medieval theme? You get the picture. To change the music, replace nextmove_music.wav in:
C:\Program Files\mektek.net\Mechwarrior Mercenaries - Mektek Mekpak\Content\MercsShellScripts\Files
With one below matching it with the current theme.
Each can be as much as 7.5MB. Make sure you make a backup of the nextmove_music.
